TO ensure the long term viability of the Geelong Thoroughbred Club it is important to grow the membership annually if possible.

We understand the difficulty of convincing friends and family to join without ever experiencing a club event so for the first time this year every member can invite ONE prospective member to ONE function at NO COST.

The club will pay for your guest and if they sign up as a member you will also get another free prospective member guest pass for another friend.

A LAPEL badge and club tie has been standard for all new male members. Women are presented with a gold diamante brooch when they join.

The club endeavours to provide new apparel to all members each year.

THE Geelong Thoroughbred Club holds a variety of events throughout the year.

Regular host is popular media personality and presenter Rob Gaylard.

High profile guest speakers are a regular feature of the club’s luncheons and dinners held at the Geelong Racing Club.

Among many other guest speakers in recent years have been John Wheeler, Brent Thomson, Kate Waterhouse, Claire Bird, John Symons and Sheila Laxon, George Frew, Pat Hyland and Jim Moloney, Ron and Peter Hutchinson, Nick Ryan, Ron Tandberg, Dick Fowlston, Simon Beasley, Craig Durden, Willy Harnett, Danny Crozier, Jack Styring, Denis Pagan, and Brendan Clements.

THE all-inclusive cost of each regular dinner and luncheon is $60.

However you can save $60 on these four events with our special discounted dinner and luncheon package for $180.

Packages are valid only for the above events and can be purchased when paying membership for 2010.

MEMBERS are able to make luncheon and dinner function payments on the day.

However the club presumes every member will be attend the regular luncheon and dinner functions unless they communicate their non-acceptance no later than 48 hours before the event.

Failure to notify non-attendance for these events in time will be draw the full $60 cost of the function meal and beverage price.

Members will be given a notification about two weeks before an each event with reminder emails also sent.

Dress code for functions is lounge suit and the equivalent for women.
